Do Not Accept Any Imitations!

Those doing foot care without using the terms 'Podiatrist' or 'Chiropodist' maybe not be registered, insured or trained properly to do so. For your safety ensure your foot health professional is registered to do so with the HCPC.

Did you know:

The foot contains 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 ligaments and 19 muscles.

1/4 of all the bones in the human body are down in your feet. When these bones are out of alignment, so is the rest of the body.

Your feet mirror your general health. Such conditions as arthritis, diabetes, nerve and circulatory disorders can show their initial symptoms in the feet -- so foot ailments can be your first sign of more serious medical problems.

And, on average, you take 8,000 to 10,000 steps or 5 miles a day! In their lifetime, the average person walks more than 100,000 miles - more than 4 times the circumference of the globe!

No wonder people develop sore feet!

What is a Podiatrist?

Podiatry or Podiatric medicine is profession devoted to the study, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower leg.

The titles “podiatrist” and “chiropodist” are interchangeable, with the term “podiatrist” becoming more favoured within the profession.

Within the field of podiatry, practitioners can focus on many different specialty areas, including surgery, sports medicine, diabetes, rheumatology, biomechanics, geriatrics, paediatrics or primary care

All Podiatrists are required to be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and may be members of The Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists
